Dr. Cerić: Mother Hava must not be forgotten!

Does this country have politicians who truly think about the people and their problems, who are truly ready to stand up in defense of those who elected them?, asks Dr. Mustafa Cerić, independent candidate for the Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reacting to the latest decision of the authorities of the smaller BiH entity in the case of Hava Tatarević from Prijedor.

Mother Hava Tatarević lost six sons and her husband in Prijedor. They were brutally killed. She searched for their remains for more than 20 years. She buried them, but still has no peace.

Along with the pain she lives with, the RS authorities decided to deny her even the little bit of misery she lives on, a modest disability allowance. They justify this by claiming "they don't know who took her sons and husband and whether they were killed in wartime circumstances".

It is clear that this is not a real financial problem for the authorities in Banja Luka, but another proof of their political and moral downfall. However, the lack of reaction from Sarajevo is concerning.

- Unfortunately, this is another proof that the state authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina are not functioning and that their own chairs and empty political bickering are more important to them than the numerous problems the people have, than Mother Hava and thousands of similar cases. Politicians in power should have realized long ago that politics is not just a struggle for personal interest, but that conscience, humanity, and, above all, morality must be preserved through it. Without these foundations, we can only count on ruin. Therefore, the case of Mother Hava must not remain just a decision of some ministry. It must be resolved, as the prolongation of her agony, as well as the agony of thousands of others who have experienced similar fates, is actually the prolongation of the ethnic cleansing project - believes Dr. Cerić.

He emphasizes that it is high time for the state authorities in Sarajevo to wake up, if they are at all interested in the fate of the people.

- The problem of Mother Hava is a problem of humanity and morality, but also an opportunity to show readiness to preserve these human values - emphasizes Dr. Cerić.
