Dr. Cerić: Bosniaks must not agree to the division of the state

Bosniaks should certainly accept agreements that lead to the improvement of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but never those that lead to further division of the state, said Dr. Mustafa Cerić, an independent candidate for the Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reacting to the statement of Dragan Čović, president of the Croatian Democratic Union of BiH and candidate for the Croatian member of the state Presidency. Čović stated on Thursday, on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the founding of the HDZ BiH, that Bosnia and Herzegovina can only bear the candidate status for membership in the European Union after the federalization of the state, i.e. after the Croats get a separate entity.

- The position of the HDZ and its officials in the executive branch is very clear. The Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Vjekoslav Bevanda, who participated in the talks in Berlin, also has a very clear project before him, which we call 'Our Response', consisting of seven principles on how we see the organization and future of BiH. The second point, after the federalization of BiH, which will resolve the Croatian issue of equality, is precisely the candidate status of BiH in the EU within a four-year mandate - Čović said in his address.

Dr. Cerić points out that Bosniaks have drawn a red line that must not be crossed, which, above all, means that they must not agree to the further division of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- A solution for the good of all people living in our country certainly exists, and that is membership in Euro-Atlantic integrations. The path to improvement for everyone is certainly not the division of the state, but agreement and constitutional reform, which would finally implement the equality of all people in Bosnia and Herzegovina - emphasized Dr. Cerić.
