Dr. Balaban sends new messages to Prijedor authorities: Declare a Day of Mourning for Innocent Civilians

Nikolina Balaban from Prijedor, head of the Pathology Department at the Prijedor General Hospital, has been courageously speaking about the wartime events in Prijedor for some time, and yesterday she also visited the former Omarska camp, on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of its closure, reports the Patria news agency.

Today, on social media, this brave woman from Prijedor published a text titled „Just four messages, and about Prijedor“.

-  I won't say anything with this that you don't already know. And this is just a small „drop“ of what Eso Sadiković was like and who he was. I didn't meet him as a colleague, but as a little girl, yes, I was his patient. Dr. Esad Eso Sadiković, a respected Prijedor doctor, was taken on August 5, 1992, from the Omarska camp (Prijedor) with a group of detainees and liquidated near the Hrastova Glavica pit in the Sanski Most municipality.

He was 44 years old. The Omarska detainees are grateful to Eso for everything he did for them, saving their lives, as they say, by stitching their wounds with strands of his own hair. 
He was an intellectual giant, a handsome and distinguished man, of unbridled imagination and refined intelligence, always ready for satire and irony…

Last night, the traditional evening „Remembering Dr. Eso Sadiković“ was held at the Prijedor theatre, organized by the Behar Citizens' Association and the „Dr. Eso Sadiković“ Foundation. A wonderful event with a cultural program and the awarding of literary prizes, but… There is always a but…

There is no chance I will stay silent. 

Sponsors, of course, concrete and media. In the very announcement of the event, the Prijedor City Administration was in first place. I didn't like it, but, well, it's their obligation, so let it be. Although, they chose the one that costs them the least in terms of their voter base and will give them the least headache. And that in the theatre to show „greatness“. Well, it's not yours but that of all citizens of Prijedor. A masterful „game“ all these years.

Okay, I tell myself, that's a start… And then, a thought, uncontrollably, how long should that start last…

First message to the City Administration

Thank you for nothing, it is your obligation towards every citizen of Prijedor who suffered such a fate. But you scored a point with gullible Bosniaks, as every year, of course with the help of certain individuals among them, for reasons known only to them and you (I do not mean the participants of the event, my deep apologies to them).

Second message to the City Administration

Your obligation towards every citizen of Prijedor is to mark the places (read camps Keraterm, Omarska and Trnopolje) of suffering, killing, torture, abuse committed in the name of Serbdom, all mass graves, the largest Tomašica and all others, as well as Hrastova Glavica where the remains of Dr. Eso were exhumed, since by sponsoring the memory of him you „pull the wool over the eyes“ of Bosniaks, that one evening you show the world multi-ethnicity and „wonderful coexistence“ in Prijedor. And you should respect the White Ribbon Day with a memorial for the children killed in 1992 in Prijedor. Hello, children…

I heard Sead Jakupović's announcement that one will be built, but I don't remember where, somewhere on the outskirts of the city, just for the sake of form, to „pull the wool over“ eyes again. Children are everything…they deserve a monument in front of the City Administration, Mr. Jakupović (I assume you have children), so it would be fitting for you as a father to understand.

Third message to the City Administration

Declare a Day of Mourning for all innocent civilians killed, since you swear you are working for our future. I don't mind the plaques for VRS soldiers who were employed in public institutions.
Why don't you put up plaques for killed Muslims, also workers of those institutions of the Municipality, the Ministry of Interior, the Court, the Prosecutor's Office, and finally the hospital where Dr. Esad Sadiković and many other doctors worked?!?

I have already seriously fallen out with Serbs…And now I will with you Bosniaks too, I know you won't understand.

The fourth message is for the organizers of last night's event

Finally, the host, who himself made a comparison that he is honored (or something similar) to share a name with the late or deceased Dr. Esad, specifically thanked the City Administration and Mayor Marko Pavić, who, let me remind you Esad, host of the event, uttered the famous sentence during the visit to Tomašica „killed and buried…“ He said it and remained alive. 
And on the other side, applause. I didn't, and I saw others who didn't. But the applause overpowered the minor boycott and disapproval of what was prepared. Why? Don't answer me, it might be clear to me. Answer those in front of whom you said it. I would like to know what they were applauding!?!

AND AFTER GENOCIDE, GENOCIDE…

And one more thing, Hasija Borić, a great Bosnian-Herzegovinian actress and director, a great woman, left me breathless. But in one of her performances last night, mentioning Dr. Eso and all the other brutally killed innocent civilians of the „wrong name“, she said „who gave their lives…“
It bothered me a little, I don't know if anyone else even noticed it…
