In mid-March, in the premises of four local communities of Centar Municipality: "Džidžikovac-Koševo I" (Hasana Kikića 8), "Soukbunar" (Soukbunar 203), "Pionirska dolina-Nahorevo" (Nahorevska 103) and "Koševsko brdo" (Braće Begić 11), the project titled "Teaching Assistants for Children with Difficulties in Learning" began its implementation, reports the Patria News Agency.
Teachers of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and English who have passed their professional exams are holding supplementary instructional classes in the premises of the aforementioned local communities for 86 eighth-grade students from elementary schools "Mehmed-beg Kapetanović Ljubušak", "Musa Ćazim Ćatić", "Nafija Sarajlić", "Alija Nametak", and "Hasan Kaimija". As planned, the project will last until the end of May, i.e., until the end of the school year, during which 36 classes will be held for each of the mentioned subjects.
- We are pleasantly surprised by the students' interest in this project, as the elementary schools sent lists with twice as many names as we expected. For this work, we engaged teachers with passed professional exams who are registered with the Employment Service of Sarajevo Canton. We believe this will be valuable work experience for them as well. The Council of the "Džidžikovac-Koševo I" Local Community submitted an initiative to finance this project to the Commission of the Municipal Council for Local Communities and Cooperation with Municipalities and Cities, which approved 2,800 KM for this purpose - said Ismeta Mameledžija, secretary of the "Džidžikovac-Koševo I" Local Community, who is also the initiator of the project.
Five elementary schools from Centar reported 62 students for additional chemistry classes, 58 for mathematics, 53 students each are attending supplementary classes for physics and English, while 30 students are registered for biology classes.
Notices about supplementary classes with the schedule of lessons have been posted on the notice boards in the mentioned schools and local communities. All eighth-grade students from schools in Centar who are interested can attend instructional classes. The possibility is also open for ninth-grade students who wish to review the material for the external matriculation exam to register by attending supplementary classes in one of the four local communities.
