Letter to the Ministry of Security: If Insists on Appointing Ćulum, Criminal Complaint Against Radončić

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – In an anonymous letter sent to several addresses regarding the appointment of Darko Ćulum as director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency, a criminal complaint has been announced against Fahrudin Radončić, the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Radončić submitted a proposal to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina to appoint Ćulum as director of SIPA, even though he meets the conditions for retirement. Ćulum met the conditions for retirement as of January 31. The authors of the anonymous letter also warn about this.

“The said proposal is not in accordance with the Law on Police Officials of Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of the fact that the Minister of Interior of the Republika Srpska does not issue a decision on the termination of employment for the proposed candidate based on meeting the conditions for old-age pension, thereby also violating the said law, given that it is stipulated that police officials, after completing 40 years of pensionable service, have their employment terminated by force of law regardless of age,” the letter states.

The letter warns that appointing Ćulum as head of SIPA leads to an absurd situation.

“Then he, in SIPA, issues decisions on termination of employment for SIPA members based on completing 40 years of pensionable service, while he himself has completed over 40 years of pensionable service before being appointed to the position of director.”

The senders of the letter express hope that Radončić will be a legalist and respect the laws of this country.

“However, if you persist in your proposal and the Council of Ministers appoints the said candidate, we will file a criminal complaint against you with the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the letter states, which was also sent to Minister Radončić, the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina Gordana Tadić, and the Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Radončić can also withdraw the proposal to appoint Ćulum, just as he annulled the proposal of Dragan Mektić, who proposed the appointment of Perica Stanić. On the list of candidates, Žarko Laketa remains, and the competition cannot be repeated as long as there is any candidate on the list.
