DONATE SHOES "Path of Remembrance" for 11,541 murdered Sarajevo citizens

(Patria) - By placing shoes on Sarajevo's main promenade, Ferhadija Street, the Sarajevo Memorial Center invites citizens of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the diaspora to join the campaign to collect and donate shoes as part of the "Path of Remembrance" project.

This project aims to pay tribute to all citizens of Sarajevo who lost their lives during the longest siege in modern human history. The project is a joint effort of the Sarajevo Memorial Center and the City of Sarajevo.

"Path of Remembrance" symbolizes the steps of these innocent victims. The project implementation lasts from March 5 to April 5, 2024. As part of the exhibition, it is planned to display shoes from Children of Sarajevo Square to Baščaršija on April 5.

"Donate shoes that will symbolize the steps of the murdered citizens. Your contribution will help build a culture of remembrance and pay tribute to those who gave their lives during the siege of Sarajevo," the MC Sarajevo calls.

As announced by the Memorial Center, after the project is completed, the shoes will be permanently preserved as part of the "Path of Remembrance" in the Memorial Forest, which will be built in the coming period at the Hrasnički stan location on Mount Igman.

A pair of boots was also donated by the Minister for Veterans' Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton, Omer Osmanović, who is also an active participant in the defense of BiH.
