Millions of Convertible Marks for Domestic Companies from Elektroprenos!

The unblocking of funds of the state electricity transmission company has united metal industry unions from both entities, the BH News Agency Patria (NAP) has learned.

Namely, as seen from the letter that Patria has been shown, the Metal Industry Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Union of Metalworkers and Miners of the Republika Srpska, along with 14 domestic companies, have jointly requested the Council of Ministers of BiH to urgently initiate amendments to the Instructions on the Application of the Public Procurement Law, so that BiH companies can participate in the investments of "Elektroprenos BiH", the BH News Agency Patria (NAP) has learned.

Namely, by unblocking the operations of the state company which has over 300 million convertible marks in its account, a large portion of which is intended for investment in the neglected power grid of BiH, an opportunity has opened up for new business for BiH companies.

However, as we have learned, there is a fear that domestic companies will be eliminated from these jobs through tender conditions, and that the money will be withdrawn from BiH through intermediary companies.

Well-informed sources of the Patria agency warn that this situation has united the two unions, which are jointly seeking for BiH firms to be competitive in the distribution of multi-million dollar contracts.

As we have learned, union representatives from 14 companies in the power and metal sectors from all over BiH, including the giants "Energoinvest" and "Elektroinžinjering" from Banja Luka, have initiated, as stated in the letter to the state and entity governments, joint activities aimed at finding ways for these companies to jointly participate in the announced investment projects of "Elektroprenos BiH".

- Aware of the difficult economic and social situation in BiH, and especially the unfavorable economic environment in which domestic business entities operate, which directly affects the material and social position of workers, the unions fully support the creation of legal prerequisites for easier participation of domestic companies in tenders for infrastructure construction in BiH, because our companies, with their human resources, references, and technology, can fully respond to even the most complex tasks - the letter to Prime Ministers Vjekoslav Bevanda, Nermin Nikšić, and Željka Cvijanović states.
