House of Peoples of FBiH limits electricity price increase to 20 percent

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Delegates of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Electricity, but in a different text than the one adopted by the House of Representatives of FBiH. Because of all this, the Law must be put to a vote by the representatives again.

According to the adopted amendments, an amendment proposed by delegates Elmedin Konaković (NIP) and Aner Žuljević (SDP), and accepted by the delegates, states that the Law is adopted with the aim that, if there is a disturbance in the electricity market in such a way that the price of electricity supply for a qualified customer increases or decreases by more than 20 percent compared to the previous year, the Government of the Federation must, by a special decision, limit the increase or decrease in electricity supply prices, and this applies to contracts with an annual duration or longer.

- I believe in the understanding of the representatives in the House of Representatives because businesses cannot bear the planned increase. I do not believe that the FBiH Government and Elektroprivreda BiH will like this, because they had prepared a blatant robbery. I hope that an urgent session of the House of Representatives will be scheduled very soon and that this law will be adopted as in the House of Peoples, against the will of the FBiH Government. We have done a great job to reduce the uncertainty that has loomed over the economy, said Aner Žuljević, an SDP delegate in the House of Peoples of FBiH, for Patria.

In the House of Representatives, a law was adopted stating that the price can be adjusted, decreased or increased by more than 50 percent, and that the FBiH Government can limit the price increase or decrease by a special decision.

The proposer of the amendments to the Law on Electricity in FBiH in the House of Peoples of FBiH, Jasmin Duvnjak, proposed that the law state that the Law is adopted with the aim that, if there is a disturbance in the electricity market in such a way that the price of electricity supply for a qualified customer increases or decreases by more than 30 percent compared to the previous year, however, this was not voted on.
