Doctors in TK Start Submitting Individual Resignations

TUZLA, (Patria) - Individual resignations by doctors of medicine and dentistry who are dissatisfied with the status of public healthcare, as well as the fact that, according to the Strike Committee of the Trade Union of Doctors of Medicine and Dentistry of TK, the Government does not respect them as a social partner, will begin today in healthcare institutions in the Tuzla Canton.

The doctors hope that the cantonal government and assembly will address this issue and expect an extraordinary session dedicated solely to this topic.

The president of the Strike Committee of the Trade Union of Doctors of Medicine and Dentistry of TK, Admir Suljić, emphasized that their primary demand is to be recognized as a social partner, to have their representativeness acknowledged as in all other cantons, and to sign a collective agreement for doctors of medicine and dentistry, as has been done in eight other cantons.

The Trade Union warns that 1,030 doctors of medicine and dentistry out of a total of 1,119 employed in TK have been presented with the fait accompli of submitting individual resignations. They still expect the Government and Assembly of TK to respond to this matter.

- The choice is simple. Either we are respected as doctors and can represent ourselves, or the healthcare system in TK will collapse. We hope for common sense and an extraordinary session of the TK Assembly - Suljić stated.

In most healthcare institutions, the notice period is seven days, so it is expected that the authorities will react within this period because, as stated by the Strike Committee, their goal is not only to improve their status but also to improve public healthcare, meaning the desire for patients to go to private clinics or seek treatment abroad less in the future.
