While Sarajevo is drowning in problems: Komšić, Čampara and Čović's salaries increased by 1,000 KM

At tomorrow's regular session of the City Council of Sarajevo, councilors will, among other things, decide on awarding the title of Honorary Citizen of Sarajevo to the long-time spokesperson for the Hague Tribunal Florence Hartmann and Dr. Kadir Topbaş, writes the Patria News Agency.

Also, after two years, the proposal for the Decision on the Adoption of the Action Plan for Gender Equality of the City of Sarajevo will be on the agenda.

Although from the very beginning of the work of this convocation of the City Council, there has been resistance from the majority of councilors to consider the Decision on salaries and benefits in the bodies of the City of Sarajevo, it will still be on tomorrow's agenda.

This is a decision by which the salaries of employees, including those of the mayor and deputy mayors Ivo Komšić, Aljoša Čampara and Ranko Čović, are increased by at least 1,000 KM, all under the pretext of harmonization with federal legal regulations.

Also, the salaries of the president and vice-presidents of the City Council Suljo Agić, Miro Lazović and Gradimir Gojer will be increased.

These three, who are also municipal councilors, receive councilor fees in addition to their official salaries.

On the other hand, the salaries of some officials in the City Administration will be reduced by this decision.

Harmonization with federal regulations, which is a legal obligation, would not be controversial if there were enough money in the budget of the City of Sarajevo. Instead of first ensuring that the city budget does not remain without tranches from the Sarajevo Canton, and that the four city municipalities also regularly pay their mandatory revenues, they managed to push through the consideration of the Decision on increasing their salaries.

Given that the majority in the City Council is currently composed of councilors from SDA and SDP, there is no doubt that the salaries will be increased.
