Agreement in the Government: Demands of the Council of Defenders Accepted, They Will No Longer Protest

By urgent procedure, the FBiH Government will send a new law on the rights of veterans to the parliamentary procedure, which will guarantee equal rights for all. The veteran supplement will be paid after the age of 60. These are the conclusions of today's meeting that representatives of the Council of Defenders held with federal and cantonal ministers for veteran affairs in Sarajevo, reports the Patria news agency.

President of the Council Nermin Bise stated after the meeting that the Resolution, due to which they went out to protest on April 24 and then in May, has begun to be gradually implemented, which is confirmed by today's conclusions.

Since 2010, when the law on the rights of veterans and members of their families was repealed, demobilized soldiers found themselves in a difficult position, as there was no longer a law to protect them.
The new law on the rights of veterans and members of their families will harmonize the right to health care for all veterans and members of their families.

Also, a veteran who, at the age of 60, has no other income, will have the right to 25 percent of the average salary in the FBiH. In addition, it was agreed that all those who are five years short of retirement will have the right to purchase additional years of service. The new legal solution will define that members of the MUP during the war were part of the Army of the Republic of BiH.

The Council of Defenders is satisfied with the agreement, and they state that they will no longer go out to protest.
