Dodik calls on opposition for Republika Srpska not to participate in elections under Schmidt's decisions

(Patria) - SNSD President Milorad Dodik stated today that this party proposes other parties in Republika Srpska not to participate in the upcoming local elections.

- Our proposal is not to participate in the elections according to the laws, or rather the decisions proposed by Christian Schmidt - said Dodik after the SNSD Presidency session.

He emphasizes that dialogue with the opposition on this issue is necessary, adding that they stand by the adoption of the Election Law of Republika Srpska, according to which elections must be organized.

- This can only be ensured if all parties accept that Republika Srpska has the right to conduct elections under its own election law - stated Dodik.

He adds that this is the only way to ensure the subjectivity of the electoral process.

He also states that the SNSD Presidency assessed that the situation at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina is confusing and that Republika Srpska is constantly being made the culprit.

- We condemn the attempts to pass the Resolution on Srebrenica at the UN. That resolution is a treacherous way to discredit the Serbian people in the long term - believes Dodik.

He also emphasizes that Republika Srpska and its representatives remain fully committed to respecting the Dayton Agreement and the Constitution, and adds that the SNSD Presidency welcomed the holding of the Great Serbian Assembly on June 8 in Belgrade.

- I believe that we will then adopt general measures related to our conduct in Republika Srpska and Serbia, and our people wherever they are - concluded Dodik.
