(Patria) - Although on May 16 SNSD proposed to all other parties in the BH entity of Republika Srpska not to participate in the upcoming local elections due to the decisions of the High Representative who imposed amendments to the Election Law, this did not prevent them from continuing election-related activities.
"On this issue, dialogue with the opposition is necessary because we remain committed to adopting the RS election law under which elections should be organized. This can only be ensured if all parties accept that the RS has the right to conduct elections according to its own election law, because only in this way can the subjectivity of the electoral process be ensured," SNSD stated on May 16.
Very soon, Milorad Dodik received a response from SDS, whose participation in the elections is questionable due to the closure of bank accounts because of sanctions, as well as from PDP, which rejected his proposal and refuses to be a "lifebelt".
Having assessed the situation, SNSD announced today that the party's candidate for mayor of Šamac will be Milan Đurđević.
The presentation of the candidate was attended by SNSD organizational secretary Igor Dodik and the party's general secretary Srđan Amidžić.
The Central Election Commission set May 24 as the last day for registration of political entities and independent candidates for the upcoming local elections to be held on October 6. So far, 113 political parties and 163 independent candidates have registered.
