Dodik offered an alternative to the EU: We have already adopted some laws, resolved Frontex, almost the Budget too, set a date for negotiations

(Patria) - SNSD leader Milorad Dodik was in a good mood at today's press conference after the coalition meeting in Mostar, which is unusual for him after such meetings.

Although the leader of HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović, clearly stated that they did not reach an agreement today on three laws – conflict of interest prevention, courts, and the Election Law – Dodik was still optimistic regarding the decision to open BiH's EU accession negotiations.

"We are asking the European Council for a date for negotiations. We believe we have done a lot, the Frontex issue has been resolved, we adopted the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorist Activities, we are looking for what else we can do so that March 21 gives us a chance for negotiations," Dodik said.

Speaking about the Law on Conflict of Interest Prevention, he pointed out that it could go into procedure very soon, given that working groups continue their work.

"All issues remain open. It would be good to finalize the Law on Conflict of Interest and the Law on Civil Service. The Budget has been agreed upon and needs to go through a certain procedure," Dodik said.

Working groups also continue work on the Law on Courts and the Election Law, for which there are three neuralgic points: the election of members of the BiH Presidency, i.e., the HDZ's condition for the election of a member from the Croat people, the integrity package, and the election of CIK members. Dodik added that in April, the Law on the Constitutional Court of BiH will be considered, which should specify the election of judges in the BiH Parliamentary Assembly instead of foreign judges.
