Dodik gathers 140 officeholders in BiH institutions, including Milan Tegeltija

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Today in East Sarajevo, a meeting will be held of officeholders in BiH institutions from the Serbian people in the RS with Milorad Dodik, member of the BiH Presidency and president of the SNSD, to inform them about the decisions of the NSRS. Dodik confirmed this at yesterday's press conference.

He said that around 140 people are expected at the meeting. The president of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, Milan Tegeltija, also confirmed his attendance to Al Jazeera, although his earlier statement that he would respect the decisions of the RS, meaning he would block the work of the HJPC, drew condemnation from the judicial community. In this way, Tegeltija reduced the umbrella judicial institution to the lowest possible level, dragging it into the context of political confrontations and placing it at the disposal of Milorad Dodik.

Dodik explained that today's meeting will consider the mode of operation of officeholders, namely that they do not participate in decision-making, but do take part in the work where they are employed.

The SNSD, together with the Serb Club and the HDZ BiH Club in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly, will submit to parliamentary procedure a proposal for the Law on the Constitutional Court, which entails the termination of the mandate of foreign judges and the selection of domestic judges in the Constitutional Court. According to this proposal, the Presidency would select three domestic judges, and the Parliamentary Assembly would confirm them. The selection of the remaining six would remain as before, Dodik said.

Member of the BiH Presidency Šefik Džaferović said that the structure of the Constitutional Court cannot be changed by law because the BiH Constitutional Court was established based on the Dayton Peace Agreement and the BiH Constitution.

"No law is possible that would regulate the functioning of the Constitutional Court and its structure," Džaferović said, adding that the BiH Constitutional Court can very hardly function without foreign judges.
