Dodik on the election of the deputy mayor: Haris Fazlagić might remain, or someone else might be chosen

The councilor club Independent List for My City in the City Council of Sarajevo will again propose at the next session, to be held at the end of this month, that the election and appointment of a second deputy mayor be on the agenda, reports the Patria News Agency.

- We also proposed this agenda item at the last session, and submitted the name of our candidate, Haris Fazlagić, to the protocol according to procedure. However, since it is no longer clear who the majority is in the City Council, which party is with whom, and who actually has 15 votes, our proposal to include this item on the agenda was rejected, says the president of the club, Vedran Dodik, for Patria.

Dodik says that he will request at the Collegium, which is held on Wednesday, to include the election of the deputy mayor on the agenda.

- It is unacceptable that the Statute has been violated for a year, which stipulates that we have a mayor and two deputy mayors who cannot be from the same ethnic group. The Statute also specifies that all documents that come to the City Council must have the consent and signatures of the mayor and two deputy mayors, but this has been violated for a year, Dodik explains.

When the majority in the City Council was established after the 2012 elections, he continues, it consisted of SDA, Our Party, Party for BiH, SDU, and BOSS.

- BOSS no longer participates in the council's work, SDU has disintegrated and we have two independent councilors, and a third in SDP, and Our Party left that majority earlier. Now, it is practically unclear who the majority is. SDA insists that the deputy mayor be theirs, and nothing is wrong with that, but let's first define who has 15 votes and who is in coalition with whom, Dodik points out.

As things stand now, says Dodik, the majority in the City Council are SDA and SDP, and at other levels of government, SDA is with SBB.

- Then we have an absurd situation where SDP is blocking everything proposed by Mayor Ivo Komšić, who is theirs, so nothing is clear to anyone anymore. We will not give up insisting that a second deputy mayor be elected from the Bosniak or Other constituent peoples, and we will see if our candidate will again be Haris Fazlagić, who is also a municipal councilor in Centar, or someone else, Dodik concludes.
