Dodik on Forto's call to Schmidt to impose election law amendments: One cannot be both a liberal and a subject

(Patria) - The president of SNSD and member of the state coalition, Milorad Dodik, commented on the statement by the president of Our Party, Edin Forto, who called on High Representative Christian Schmidt to intervene and impose amendments to the Election Law.

Dodik states that when "the Germans last took it upon themselves to 'intervene' in these areas, it ended with massacres at Kozara, Jasenovac, Prebilovci, and numerous tragedies".

"The last time we took away the Germans' right to intervene here, the BiH that is possible was created – a country of two entities and three constituent peoples, Serbs, Bosniaks, and Croats, who have equal rights and to whom no one has the most rights. Such BiH implies that we agree on everything. No agreement will equally or fully satisfy Forto, Čović, or me, but at least it will be the result of the democratic process of our peoples living in Europe in the 21st century," said Dodik.

Dodik emphasizes that he was surprised that someone who claims to be a liberal calls for a foreigner to make decisions instead of the elected representatives of the people in BiH.

"In what language should I tell you so you understand – only the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH can pass laws in BiH. How many times do I have to repeat for you to understand – Schmidt is not the High Representative, perhaps he is a 'high deity' for Bosniak politicians and can only be the High Representative in the Federation of BiH, which obviously accepts him. Should I draw it for you so you finally accept that Schmidt's wish can be a command for you, but it means nothing to Republika Srpska? Or, how is it possible that leader Forto ignores the views of Serbs and Croats on the topic of the Election Law, and shows that this scoundrel Schmidt is theirs, Muslim, and that he is carrying out their orders?" Dodik stated.

The President of the Republic stated that their servility is disgusting, and that politicians take responsibility, while political opportunists wait for others to decide for them.

Dodik says that one cannot be both a liberal and a subject of Schmidt at the same time.

"A liberal, presumably, should know that his freedoms end where others' begin. A subject knows nothing. A subject sees nothing. He has neither a vision nor a clear direction because a imposed German leads him on the path. Elections in Republika Srpska will be held either according to the current law, or according to an amended one that we agree on, or according to the law of Republika Srpska that we will pass. Not according to yours and Schmidt's. We are not interested in Schmidt's fantasies," concluded Dodik.
