Dodik on Čović: Opposition is the wrong choice

(Patria) - SNSD and RS President Milorad Dodik commented on today's HDZ meeting with opposition parties from that entity.

Dodik said he would support changes to the BiH Election Law if they include a mechanism for "Croats to elect the Croat member of the BiH Presidency, regardless of anything else".

However, he also stated that he "thinks it is the wrong choice for them to opt for the opposition".

- What Dragan Čović is trying to do today is his business, I will not say anything. I never expected him to follow what we do. But we cannot accept what is illegitimate - said Dodik.

He points out that he believes Čović will "negotiate with Bosniaks to let Croats elect their member of the BiH Presidency" and that Bosniaks will now "obviously have to back down".

- If it is evident - that Croats elect the Croat member of the Presidency, SNSD will support that solution, regardless of where it comes from - the government or the opposition. But it must be evident.

Regardless of the fact that we find what HDZ is doing now unpleasant, we will vote because it concerns the Croat people, not HDZ.

I think their choice to opt for the opposition is wrong - stated Dodik.

He explained this with a new unconstitutional move of amending the RS Constitution, the Draft of which is contrary to the BiH Constitution, and which stipulates that "all decisions made at the BiH level must be approved by the RS National Assembly".
