Dodik from Belarus sums up the week: If Schmidt interferes with the Election Law amendments, RS will conduct elections on its own

(Patria) - SNSD and RS President Milorad Dodik is in Belarus, and a meeting with President Alexander Lukashenko is scheduled for Monday. Dodik used Sunday to sum up the outgoing week.

Although he is already on trial for not implementing the High Representative's decisions, Dodik again had a message for Christian Schmidt.

"Republika Srpska is for an agreement within BiH, but we are also determined to put an end to BiH's European path if Christian Schmidt attempts to interfere with the amendments to the Election Law. In that case, RS will adopt its own election law and conduct elections.

Otherwise, RS was stripped of its competencies regarding elections in the past period because, according to the Dayton Agreement, BiH can conduct elections for members of the Presidency and the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, while everything else should be conducted by Republika Srpska," Dodik stated.

We remind you that Schmidt requested in December that political leaders adopt amendments to the BiH Election Law related to the election integrity package, i.e., the introduction of new technologies such as scanners and video surveillance at polling stations to reduce the possibility of election fraud.

However, the state-level coalition did not reach an agreement on these amendments because the HDZ and Dragan Čović requested political changes as well, i.e., changes to the election of members of the BiH Presidency and members of the BiH Central Election Commission.

The US Embassy warned both Čović and other parties that such amendments are not possible without amendments to the BiH Constitution, and in order to implement all judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
