Dodik, Čović and the "Trojka" from East Sarajevo announced the adoption of the Election Law in the BiH Parliament

(Patria) - The meeting of political partners forming the state-level government, hosted in East Sarajevo by SNSD leader Milorad Dodik, has concluded.

Addressing reporters after the meeting, Dodik said they all regretted a kind of standstill after obtaining negotiator status.

- We have reached a situation that now requires solutions. I believe that local people should resolve these issues.

We are prepared to try to submit the BiH Election Law for decision-making in the BiH Parliament in the next few days, to see how we can unblock this European path again - Dodik said briefly.

HDZ BiH leader Dragan Čović emphasized that today's urgent meeting at the partner level was agreed upon a few days ago.

The goal, he added, was to find a solution and a way out of the situation that arose after the opening of negotiations and the imposition of certain legal solutions.

- It seems to me that the solution is to adopt the BiH Election Law in the parliamentary procedure by next Friday, which would resolve the majority of the problems we have in our functioning today. I believe that this can be the conclusion of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament tomorrow - Čović said briefly.

SDP leader Nermin Nikšić stressed that everyone regrets that after the momentum and what we had after the opening of negotiations, a standstill occurred which blocked the work of the BiH Parliament and the Council of Ministers of BiH.

- Today's meeting concluded in a way that we are committed to trying to return to the European path, to unblock it, to focus on resolving issues. To reach legal solutions through joint agreement, discussion, and compromise, which we will adopt, not which will be imposed.

We agreed to do our best in the coming period to offer the Election Law for parliamentary procedure, so that electoral procedures are the result of agreements by local authorities - Nikšić pointed out.

President of People and Justice Elmedin Konaković said that what Nikšić says can always be considered the official position of the "Trojka".

- Today the atmosphere in BiH is different, because domestic political actors have managed to agree on very difficult issues and deserved that kind of reward and confirmation that it is worth agreeing and discussing, with the official statement from Brussels saying that BiH is entering the train leading to European integration - Konaković claims.

He assessed today's meeting as very difficult and not at all easy.

- We still have opposing views on various issues, but I still think we have the awareness that domestic political actors must make maximum efforts to resolve these current issues - the Election Law is one of the most current, but also others that are on our table.

We have very little time. We have a session of the House of Representatives tomorrow, which should, based on today's discussions, try to find such a conclusion or solution, to make maximum efforts so that within a short period of 7 to 10 days before the elections are called, we have a document that will be the product of agreement by domestic politicians - Konaković added.

Answering a journalist's question about whether they have brought their positions closer on the issue of amending the BiH Election Law, Dodik said that there is a high degree of agreement on technical solutions.

- Of course, these difficult issues remain - the position of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of BiH must be resolved. We had an agreement on that earlier, it needs to be reactivated.

And of course, this issue remains - which is legal, political, and essentially constitutional - elections for the members of the Presidency. I don't want to shy away from it, but that is something that the partners in the FBiH must resolve, and they will try to do so in the coming days - Dodik said.

He added that, considering all this confusion, it shows that the best solution is a new Election Law that would resolve all these issues.
