Dodik: I will be a candidate for the president of Republika Srpska next year, I will create an election law for myself!

(Patria) - The president of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the leader of SNSD, stated that he will be the party's candidate for the head of Republika Srpska next year.

He added that it has already been decided and that the candidacy has been confirmed.

"The abuse of processes at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina will end with us starting in May to form a new Election Commission of Republika Srpska and conduct elections at the level of Republika Srpska in accordance with our Election Law," Dodik said in an interview with Belgrade's Politika.

Dodik was recently unappealably sentenced by a court in Sarajevo to one year in prison and six years of being banned from performing the duties of the president of Republika Srpska "for not respecting the decision of the High Representative of the international community".

He added that "some will jump around Europe because of this, but it doesn't matter what they think about it, the right of the people to choose is what matters".

"The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has usurped competencies, what do they have to do with elections in Republika Srpska. By taking on too many obligations, they have choked themselves. They have taken on too much and cannot handle it," said Dodik.
