Dobrinja: 21st anniversary of the killing of nine Sarajevans marked

A delegation of the Canton Sarajevo, led by the Minister of Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection Zlatko Petrović, laid flowers today at the site of the massacre in Oslobodilaca Sarajeva street near number 8, in memory of the nine killed Sarajevans, thus marking the 21st sad anniversary of their suffering, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

On February 4, 1994, three shells fell one after another at this location, on the asphalt pedestrian path near the public garage, behind the building at Trg Zlatnih ljiljana number 3, and into the upper left corner of the window of apartment two at Oslobodilaca Sarajeva street number 8. Due to their explosive effects, the following were killed: Seida Baličevac, Osman Hebibović, Emin Kolar, Enver Mustagrudić, Muškija Pribinja, Mirsad Spahić, Selima Spahić, Aiša Šito, and Jadranka Tendžera, while another 16 were wounded. Their lives were brutally ended by shells fired around 11:25 AM from aggressor positions located in Lukavica.

- We gathered at the site of a terrible crime that happened here twenty-one years ago, to remember the dead and to warn the living. Forgetting is a great sin, forgetting is complicity in crime. We owe it to the victims and are obliged to cherish their memories with respect, for ourselves and for our children - said Minister Petrović on this occasion.

Unfortunately, no one has ever been prosecuted for this crime, and this is the hardest part for the relatives of the victims.

- My Selima was ten years old, and her older brother Mirsad was twenty-four. These children could not have harmed anyone - says their father Ibrahim with tears in his eyes, adding that the passage of time only deepens his wounds.

Flowers were laid at the site of the massacre by family members of the victims, as well as delegations from the City, the Municipality of Novi Grad, the Union of Associations of Civilian War Victims of Sarajevo Canton, and the Association of Parents of Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995.
