Dobojski high school students in renovated classrooms

Yesterday, the new school year officially began for 2,300 students of the Secondary School Center in Doboj. The Center's facility suffered enormous damage during the catastrophic floods in May of this year, and was renovated as part of the European Union's Flood Recovery Programme. The value of the European Union's investment is 2.3 million KM, it was announced from the EU Delegation to BiH, reports Patria News Agency.
 
- On behalf of myself and my colleagues and students, I would like to thank the representatives of the European Union for the financial assistance that has definitely exceeded our expectations - said Spasoje Vasiljević, president of the Association of Principals, emphasizing that the renovation of the Center has enabled higher quality teaching.
 
The classrooms have been completely renovated, with new furniture and teaching aids. The heating system has been repaired, all internal water and electrical installations have been replaced, and the walls have been repaired. The facility also has a new roof and facade. The installation of floor coverings on the ground floor of the building remains, a process that depends on the weather conditions and requires the humidity level to be lowered to a certain extent.
    
Otherwise, the Doboj Secondary School Center consists of four schools – electrical and transport, economic and trade, technical, and catering. The Center represents the largest facility being renovated through the EU Flood Recovery Programme.
Ambassador Peter Sorensen, Head of the European Union Delegation to BiH and EU Special Representative, said that this is the best illustration of EU assistance in action.
- The goal of the Programme is to re-establish services of key importance, and education is the first priority on that list. I would like to wish the students and teachers the best of luck in the new school year - stated Sorensen.
