By the end of November, 84 returnee families in Doboj will receive assistance

The Federal Ministry for Refugees and Displaced Persons and the humanitarian organization "Islamic Relief Worldwide" have signed a cooperation agreement, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The protocol was signed by Minister Adil Osmanović and the Director of "Islamic Relief Worldwide" Sarajevo, Velija Semir Kukuruzović, and it enables the provision of support to returnees who suffered from natural disasters (floods, landslides) caused by heavy rainfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina in May and August 2014.

Specifically, it concerns assistance in repairing minor damages (floors, walls, carpentry, electrical and sanitary materials, etc.) to residential buildings through joint participation in the project "Support and Assistance for 84 Returnee Families in the Municipality of Doboj - Republika Srpska for the Repair of Minor Damages to Residential Buildings," by providing construction materials.

The total value of the project, which is to be completed by 30.11.2014, amounts to 193,046.40 convertible marks, of which the Federal Ministry for Refugees and Displaced Persons will provide 71.51 percent of the funds, or 138,047.48 KM, and will be the implementer of the project, while "Islamic Relief Worldwide" will contribute 28.49 percent, or 54,998.92 KM.

Minister Osmanović thanked "Islamic Relief Worldwide" for their assistance in repairing the consequences of the floods and emphasized that the ministry has allocated 6.8 KM for the repair of housing stock and infrastructure facilities.

- It is good that funds from as many sources as possible are consolidated, as has been done in recent days with significant funds provided by the Islamic Community in BiH. "Islamic Relief Worldwide" has also contributed to this today by signing the Protocol - said Osmanović.

The signing of the Protocol and the implementation of the project create conditions for the returnee population to continue using their damaged housing without hindrance and to remain on their properties, which contributes to their reintegration into society, with the knowledge that the social community and the non-governmental sector have not forgotten them.

The Regional Coordinator of "Islamic Relief Worldwide" for Southeast Europe, Haney Masood, who attended the signing of the Protocol, stated that this humanitarian organization will continue to assist the population of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports Patria.
