Dizdarević: Impression that American arrogance crossed a "red line"

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - At least 13 rockets hit the al-Asad air base in Iraq where US military forces are stationed. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for the rocket attack and thus, it says, launched the operation "Martyr Soleimani". They said several times that it would be an attack on military formations, the Iraqi parliament passed a resolution that all foreign forces leave the country", Dizdarević said about this morning's attack.

"On the first day, there was an optimistic statement from an American general who said they were packing up and leaving, because they 'respect the sovereignty of the country they are in'. The day after that, the US Secretary of Defense, like a bolt from the blue, announced that this was misinterpreted, that it was a draft statement. There was no stronger argument for Iraq, which promised a reaction", he added.

He said that American political arrogance had crossed a "red line".

"The situation is such that anyone who thinks is confused by the behavior of the American political leadership. Not to mention that they have their own internal situation and bickering. One cannot escape the impression that this American arrogance has crossed a red line. They have created an environment in which it is believed that they can do anything, that they have the right to everything, that what they determine becomes the standard. A political mentality has been created that does not correspond to world reality".

He also pointed out that the US political leadership is not aware that relations are not like during the Cold War.

"The situation is no longer like in the Cold War, with the USSR on one side and the USA on the other. Today, on one side is America with its satellites and the EU, which disagrees with it but lacks the courage to say so. On the other side are China, Russia, Iran, India, and many other countries. I think this lack of awareness of the political reality on the planet is very present among Americans".
