Dizdarević: Human life has become worthless, we must react urgently!

Regardless of statistical reports from the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton that the capital of BiH is one of the safest in the world, citizens have been in panic for a long time, writes the Patria news agency.

In addition to insecurity in traffic and increasingly frequent fatal accidents, there is more and more weapons on the streets, and triggers are easily pulled, which has triggered a red alert and shown that we must urgently resolve such situations. Shooting during the day on busy streets, where people are harmed neither guilty nor innocent, has further disturbed citizens, so on social networks there is already a panicked discussion about the new situations.

Jasmina Dizdarević, a prominent Sarajevo psychologist, told the Patria news agency that lawlessness has prevailed and that the law is not what it once was, because people are no longer afraid of sanctions for a committed act, knowing they will get off easily, because many more serious things are not sanctioned.

- So human life has become almost worthless and anyone can destroy it in any field, by car, quarrel, verbal reaction, pulling a weapon, etc. I think we have failed in every sense, from family, society, work, neighborhood, etc. We have lost all human values that once made us human, and that is that we empathized with others, that we listened to others and had a need for tolerance. Even big quarrels used to end in reconciliation. Respected people would gather to reconcile them. We must restore those human values, we must teach children respect, sabur in the sense of controlling their frustrations and emotions. We must tighten the law - says Dizdarević.

The professor further notes that the increasingly frequent carrying of weapons has some signs that trigger a red alert for security agencies.

- You now have a lot of armed people, and what will they need weapons for if they are moving normally on the street. You then lose the sense of security, lose the feeling that someone is protecting you, and then you take matters into your own hands and protect yourself. On all networks, it is said that the young man who died in Vratnik was modest, family-oriented, and time will tell why someone pulled a weapon on a respected citizen - added Dizdarević.

- The alarm was triggered long ago, right after the war. But things have stalled, explains Dizdarević, adding that work with children must begin as soon as possible.

- We must point out to people their responsibility. School has an educational function first, and only then a nurturing one. You cannot educate someone who comes to school uneducated. What is missed by the age of five can never be compensated. We must all engage from the ground up if we want things to be better for us, and if not, this swamp will become even bigger - explained Dizdarević.
