Director Izetbegović Step by Step Takes Over KS Healthcare: Medical Chamber Now in the Crosshairs

An identical scenario from June, when she lobbied for delegates of the UKCS Trade Union Assembly, offering some higher salaries, others jobs for their children, and threatening others that they would lose their jobs if they did not remove Dr. Suad Rožajac from his position as president, director Sebija Izetbegović has brutally targeted the KS Medical Chamber as well.

Her ultimate goal is to bring this institution under her direct control, writes the Patria News Agency.

To recall, Dr. Rožajac was then accused of numerous malversations, irregularities, and especially for allegedly "squandering money from membership fees paid by employees".

Of course, everyone, even those who participated in Rožajac's dismissal, knew that all financial reports were clean, but this anesthesiologist was inconvenient for the director and did not fit into her plans to gain 100% control of UKCS. Even those appointed to the new leadership of the Trade Union by the director's order intercepted Dr. Rožajac, apologizing for having to dismiss him, but stating that their jobs were at stake.

The Medical Chamber of Sarajevo Canton is now in the crosshairs. The plan is copied. A group of medical workers (unsigned, of course) addressed the public with a letter stating that some members of this institution's management have gone rogue and are tarnishing an honorable profession.

- As much as 5,800 from UKCS, 3,800 from JU Health Center KS, and 2,000 KM from JU General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš" are allocated monthly for the Chamber's work, from the salaries of medical staff. The fate of this money is unknown because there are no reports on its expenditure, the letter states.

The same sentence was written in the explanation for the dismissal of Dr. Suad Rožajac from the position of president of the UKCS Trade Union.

This letter directly names the President of the Chamber's Management Board, Dr. Dragan Stevanović.

- He turned the Internal Medicine Clinic at the General Hospital into a recruitment center for patients whom he redirects to his private clinic. Patients know this well, as do all employees of this hospital who testify that Dr. Stevanović has never stayed until the end of working hours at this public institution. He once stated that he knows who takes bribes in this hospital, but he never reported it. This is conscious concealment of a criminal offense. Doctors Stevanović and Nakaš bought a CT, a digital mammography unit, and a universal X-ray machine, costing a staggering three million euros in Austria, and they did not have the expert staff to operate these expensive devices, the letter states.

We asked Dr. Stevanović for a comment, and he stated that he has absolutely nothing to do with the procurement of the mentioned equipment, and that Dr. Izetbegović, during her tenure as director of the General Hospital, did not want to allocate funds for the repair of the mammography unit.

The letter mentions this apparatus, but without including what Dr. Stevanović told us:

- The mammography unit was never used, it did not help any patient, and in the meantime, its warranty expired, after which it broke down, the letter states.

Regarding the private clinic, Dr. Stevanović briefly said, "God bless them if I had a private clinic."

- After working hours, I work two hours in a private polyclinic. This is all in accordance with the law. Therefore, doctors have the right to work two hours in a private clinic after working hours, but based on a tripartite agreement: doctor - hospital where they work - private clinic, explains Dr. Stevanović.

The decision that the KUM UKCS does not operate two days a week, but the General Hospital "Prim. dr Abdulah Nakaš" (which could have cost many lives), the decision that pregnant women cannot come for examination at GAK before 36 weeks of pregnancy but exclusively to the Institute for Women and Maternity, bringing the UKCS Trade Union under control, determining where histopathological findings will be performed, and now the forceful takeover of the Medical Chamber of Sarajevo Canton, all with the approval of the KS Minister of Health Zilha Ademaj (SBB), is the path that director Sebija Izetbegović has set for herself.

All that remains is for her to bring the KS Health Insurance Fund, with a budget of 350 million KM, under her direct control. As her husband, the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović, would say, "it's not bad for the UKCS manager to be my wife, who has good connections, she will have my support."

But the wife did not stop at UKCS. Appetites are growing.
