RMU Zenica Director and Management Resign

ZENICA, (Patria) - Director of the Brown Coal Mine (RMU) Zenica Nevzet Vrškić has resigned from his position along with the mine's management, confirmed the president of the Independent Trade Union of Workers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sinan Husić.

The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday gave consent to the Supervisory Board of Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine to dismiss Nevada Ikanović, Director for Production, which the Supervisory Board did.

Minister of Energy, Mining, and Industry Nermin Džindić had previously stated that he expected resignations from the RMU Zenica Management, given that they had done nothing to resolve the accumulated problems in that mine. The problem escalated with a miners' protest in Sarajevo, after which miners in all three shafts of the Zenica mine refused to leave the shafts and began a hunger strike. After an agreement was reached for the Government of FBiH and JP Elektroprivreda to assist in the remediation of the debt to the Tax Administration of FBiH, the miners ended their strike and resumed production.
