The Embassy of Turkey in Bosnia and Herzegovina has denied reports of the disappearance of the country's military attaché, published by Reuters, citing an unnamed Turkish official, reports the Patria News Agency.
The Embassy confirmed that the military attaché is in Sarajevo and has not been summoned for an interview in Ankara, as Reuters claimed, stating that the summons was part of the investigation being conducted after the attempted military coup.
The agency previously stated, citing the same source, that two Turkish military attachés at the embassy in Greece and one at the embassy in BiH had disappeared.
Diplomats on the run
Two Turkish military attachés stationed in Greece fled to Italy after being recalled following the attempted military coup, and Turkish authorities will contact their Italian counterparts to have them returned, said Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
Cavusoglu told the private station NTV that some diplomats are still on the run after Turkey launched purges in the army and state services, agencies report.
He added that Ankara is still awaiting a response from US officials regarding a Turkish officer from NATO who requested asylum in the US after his government recalled him from his mission in America, reports Al Jazeera.
