Amateurish statement by the chairperson: For Zvizdić, January 9th and March 1st in the same basket!?

We often witness situations where local politicians make statements on delicate political issues, off the cuff without much thought, which can have far-reaching consequences, writes the Patria News Agency.

The latest such statement was heard these days when the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdić, commenting on the announced arrival of members of the Serbian Government to mark January 9th, Republic of Srpska Day, said the following:

-I think that at this moment it is not a long-term good or constructive decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. Then there is no reason why the entire Government of Serbia should not come on March 1st and celebrate the Independence Day of BiH with us, if such a neutral policy is to be pursued, as is being talked about.

This diminishes the capacity of what Prime Minister Vučić and the Government of Serbia could truly represent, which is to somehow be leaders of serious regional reconciliation processes, good neighborly cooperation, better economic relations... In this way, it is, in a way, about unilateral decisions or about a policy that favors only one part of BiH, and which is not at the level of government that Vučić represents, and that is the Government of Serbia, Zvizdić stated.

Consciously or unconsciously, perhaps trying to show that he too can bang his fist on the table and conduct high politics, Zvizdić equated something that should never be done, let alone publicly.

He put the Independence Day of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the same basket as January 9th, which the Constitutional Court of BiH declared an illegal holiday.

It is advisable to build good relations between countries, especially neighboring ones, but it is not advisable to do so at the expense of one's own country.

Therefore, we remind Chairperson Zvizdić that on March 1, 1992, a referendum was held in which 99 percent of citizens, out of 64.31 percent who voted, declared for an independent Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Precisely based on the results of that referendum, on April 6, 1992, the European Community recognized BiH as an independent and sovereign state, and the USA did the same a day later.

And on January 9, 1992, which is why the now illegal Day of RS is being celebrated, the bloody campaign in this country was officially and institutionally launched.
