(Patria) - All residents of Sarajevo, as well as BiH, are witnessing tonight how the authorities function.

After the news that the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration of KS ordered the evacuation of some residents from landslide-affected areas of the Old Town municipality, signed by the relevant minister Bojan Bošnjak, the Mayor of the Old Town Municipality Irfan Čengić organized an extraordinary press conference.

He said he was surprised!? The authorities surprised the authorities. It's not as if the Government of Sarajevo Canton is under the jurisdiction of a party that Čengić does not belong to. But that is a subject for other analyses.

Tonight, it is important to understand how much confusion there is among those who govern.
"Evacuations will not begin until Civil Protection members reach the residents. The decision caught us by surprise as well. We were not informed by the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration that they were planning an evacuation today," Čengić said.

So, how surprised are the citizens of the Old Town?

"The minister showed a lack of empathy. There is a need for evacuation, we have been talking about it for 20 days, but we said it should be done by informing people in a timely manner. However, they decided at 4 PM to issue such an order immediately. Then they closed the operational center and only the operator remained," said Čengić.

He also stated that the municipality had already taken certain preventive measures.
"Let people not think that something extraordinary has started now and that they need to evacuate urgently. What we have done with other institutions are urgent measures at Ćurina njiva. We allocated 20,000 for payment to Istočni Stari Grad so that they would erect a fence to prevent further dumping of waste.

Their inspection ordered that we can carry out other measures in the spring when the remediation project is adopted," Čengić said.

And the only thing that can be properly drawn from tonight's performance by the authorities is that the citizens of the Old Town have reason to worry, because the lack of timely solutions and good coordination between different levels of government (which, by the way, are made up of the same parties vertically) are indeed cause for concern!
