Dieng: We will never forget Srebrenica

SREBRENICA, (Patria) - UN Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide Adama Dieng and BiH Minister of Human Rights and Refugees Semiha Borovac visited the Potočari Memorial Center - Srebrenica, where they paid tribute to the victims of the genocide.

- I speak in Srebrenica with great humility. I am here to pay tribute to the victims of the genocide. We must always remember what happened here. A large number of families still do not know the fate of their loved ones, the search for the missing continues, as does the fight for justice. Remembering the events in Srebrenica is the right of the families, but an important part of the healing process. Institutional support must be provided to survivors and those mourning the lives lost - Dieng said in Potočari. 

Dieng added that denying the genocide is a direct obstacle to reconciliation in this region. 

- The International Court of Justice in The Hague has confirmed through its verdicts the genocide that occurred in Srebrenica. It is unacceptable to glorify convicted war criminals. Criminals are not heroes. Victims, survivors, witnesses are the real heroes. I express my deep respect for the victims and survivors. May the souls of all victims rest in peace. We will never forget Srebrenica - Dieng concluded.
