DF: If a solution for Mostar is desired, talks cannot proceed without HDZ and the organisations of Serbs

A delegation of the City Committee of the Democratic Front Mostar participated in a meeting regarding the re-initiation of talks on resolving the issue of the multi-year failure to hold elections in Mostar and the non-implementation of the Constitutional Court's decision, the DF announced, Patria reports.

Although the announced arrival of parties of similar provenance and orientation was cancelled at the last moment, the Democratic Front, as a representative of the civic and multi-ethnic option, participated in the meeting on renewed talks and demonstrated the responsibility of a parliamentary party and an option that genuinely cares about the rights and needs of the people of Mostar and all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As a party that consistently insists in political communication on respecting and recognising the fundamental Mostar principles, which is a prerequisite for all further communication between political actors, the Democratic Front Mostar reiterated and confirmed its principled approach in action and communication at the held meeting.

The DF Mostar delegation, led by the president of the City Committee of DF Mostar, Mahmut Trčalo, and member of the City Committee of DF Mostar, Toni Čugelj, presented a series of points that must be respected at the meeting.

The Democratic Front Mostar believes that the gathering of parties to initiate talks for Mostar, if we truly want what is good and a solution for Mostar and its citizens, cannot and must not proceed without the remaining interested parties. These are HDZ BiH, the Coordination of Organisations of Serbs in Mostar, and local parties that, in agreement and responsibility with others, have the mechanisms and power to finally resolve the Mostar crisis.

Everything else is a deepening of the crisis by gathering one group against another, which, in our view, cannot and will not bind us to real solutions. The Democratic Front will not participate in such similar invitations without all representatives in Mostar and in the institutions of the city and state.

The Democratic Front is a party of all peoples and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of religious, racial, cultural, and other affiliations.

A party that sees and treats Mostar as a cosmopolitan environment where all people meet, expressing belonging to the entire Mostar, not to its parts.

By its nature, we cannot be part of exclusive national groupings.

The Democratic Front Mostar is a party of citizens angry and disappointed in the decades-long policies of the two national parties in Mostar, SDA and HDZ, and we consider them the exclusive culprits for the Mostar crisis and a city of poor functioning and living for its citizens. However, we are aware that the resolution and reaching an agreement for Mostar at this point in time are in their hands.

We hope that this will change in the future Mostar and that after this historic mistake by SDA and HDZ, Mostar will become a unique and functional city for all its citizens, the statement concludes.
