DF: Scandalous proposal by Our Party on the division of BiH through the introduction of different electoral models in the FBiH and RS

Demokratska fronta believes that the proposal by Our Party regarding the election of members of the BiH Presidency, presented by state parliament member Predrag Kojović, is completely scandalous as it implies a completely different method of electing members of the BiH Presidency from the entity of the Federation of BiH and the entity of the RS.

A different, i.e., asymmetric election of members of the BiH Presidency presupposes an indirect election from the FBiH and a direct election from the RS, and in perspective means a complete paralysis of the BiH Presidency and a wide range of possibilities for blockades both in the election of members of the BiH Presidency and in the formation of the Council of Ministers, since the BiH Presidency appoints the mandate holder.

Making the election of the member of the BiH Presidency from the entity of the RS simple, while making the election of members of the BiH Presidency from the Federation complicated and subject to various obstructions, knowing how slowly and with what political machinations the election of delegates through the House of Peoples functions, would mean establishing two completely opposite electoral models in one country.

This would, moreover, mean a reduction of democratic standards, since it does not implement any judgment of the European Court of Human Rights, and would ultimately mean the division of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We believe that with this proposal, which is nothing new as it has been pushed onto the negotiating table before by political enemies of BiH, Our Party has undermined even the minimum consensus among parties based in Sarajevo regarding the method of electing members of the BiH Presidency.

Namely, all parties, starting with the SDP and SDA, for years, like Demokratska fronta, have principledly rejected the possibility of introducing asymmetry in the method of electing members of the BiH Presidency. Even the SBB was against such an option.

However, now Our Party, as the vanguard of treacherous politics in Sarajevo, comes out with a proposal that is completely hostile from the standpoint of the interests of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We call on the SDP BiH to remain consistent with itself regarding the asymmetric election of members of the BiH Presidency, i.e., the positions it has advocated over a decade and a half of talks on the election of members of the BiH Presidency and earlier in the interest of the state, the statement from Demokratska fronta reads.
