DF Rejects Three's Invitation Due to Konaković's Stances Contrary to ECtHR Judgments

(Patria) - Due to the clearly formulated and publicly expressed views of the president of the People and Justice party (Elmedin Konaković) on amendments to the Constitution and the Election Law, which are completely contrary to the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, the Democratic Front will not accept the invitation from the Three (SDP, NIP, NS) for negotiations on amendments to the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the aim of implementing the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.

The Democratic Front believes that it is pointless to conduct any negotiations to achieve a certain goal when the initiator of the negotiations, even before the negotiations themselves, expresses views and positions that are obstacles rather than a path to the goal, i.e., a path to the implementation of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.

The fact that the views of the president of People and Justice, especially those on the election of members of the Presidency of BiH, are not a coincidence or a slip of the tongue is evidenced by the public statements of representatives from the same party who advocate for an asymmetrical and indirect election of members of the BiH Presidency, which is completely undemocratic and unacceptable, and which has only pleasantly surprised the HDZ and SNSD.

The Democratic Front also wishes to point out on this occasion that the fact that the case of the attempted sabotage of the European Court of Human Rights judgment in the Kovačević case, with which certain members of the Three are connected, has not yet been resolved, is a complicating factor for responding to the negotiations. Therefore, the question arises as to how, in this context, one can simultaneously sabotage the implementation of the European Court of Human Rights judgments and invite others to implement them, without the aforementioned circumstances having been previously established.
