DF condemns Tomislav Karamarko, president of HDZ, for continuing to interfere in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and considers his inflammatory statements a threat to the stability and European future of the region, reports the Patria News Agency.
After extremist statements in which he openly calls for the secession and division of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Karamarko went a step further yesterday and took it upon himself to speak about what is "acceptable" to him in BiH and what is not. We in DF believe that such behavior by Karamarko places HDZ alongside extremist far-right parties such as Jobbik and the National Front. The fact that the vice-president of HDZ, Drago Prgomet, resigned due to Karamarko's far-right policy also speaks to the fact that we are right in these claims.
We in DF also use this opportunity to remind Karamarko that the project of dividing Bosnia and Herzegovina did not succeed even in much more difficult times for our country, and that this attempt is today defined as a "joint criminal enterprise" by the competent international judicial bodies. We could hear claims about the right to care for compatriots outside the borders in the early nineties as well, when Serbia, under the pretext of caring for Serbs outside Serbia, committed aggression against our country, i.e., against Croatia, and therefore we call on Karamarko to withdraw his statements. However, since he claims that there are minorities in Europe who have more rights than Croats in BiH, we call on Karamarko to say which minorities they are. Perhaps Serbs in Croatia?
We sincerely hope that the citizens of the Republic of Croatia will also become aware of the danger that looms over their country and that they will decisively reject the return to the past that Karamarko is calling for. We, on the other hand, will remain consistent in defending the values of a common and one Bosnia and Herzegovina, anti-fascism, and the right of all citizens to be equal and have equal rights at every step in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Everything else are nationalist illusions and mirages that the citizens of our country, regardless of ethnic and religious affiliation, paid dearly for while various Karamarkos cheered from a safe distance in Zagreb or Belgrade.
