DF and GS cancel election rally in Sarajevo due to protests for Dženan Memić

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Democratic Front-Civic Alliance coalition planned to organize an election rally in Sarajevo in front of the National Museum on October 5th, where they would send final messages ahead of the upcoming general elections.

- We believe it is inappropriate, at the same time when a large number of citizens are gathered seeking the truth regarding the unresolved tragic death of a young fellow citizen, to hold political speeches on a stage or publicly broadcast promotional spots.

We are witnessing that throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, including Sarajevo, the truth is being sought regarding numerous criminal offenses that remain unresolved, and we support civic activism that peacefully and with dignity encourages the identification of perpetrators of criminal offenses, whoever they may be.

Since a large number of our members and guests have already been announced for the scheduled time, we have decided to organize a dignified march through the city on that day in Sarajevo and a gathering with citizens, which was our most frequent way of communicating with potential voters during the campaign, and also the one that was most acceptable to voters.

Also, we call on other political entities to cancel their potential election rallies in Sarajevo on October 5th for the reasons we have previously explained - stated the DF-GS coalition.

We remind you that the father of the tragically deceased young man, Dženan Memić, Muriz, invited all citizens to come in front of the BBI Center at 6 PM on October 5th. These are unannounced protests.
