Nineteen months since the destruction of the Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar, aiming to present BiH as impossible

(Patria) - UABNOR Mostar reminds the public that on January 14, 2024, it has been 19 months since the terrorist act committed against the National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina - the Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar.

"There are still no developments in the investigation, it is still ongoing, they say. Nineteen months of obstruction of the investigation and nineteen months of shame that not only our public, but also the world public, writes and talks about. This is not about the incompetence of investigators or an extremely complicated case, but about clear, politically motivated obstruction.

From the beginning, we have been repeating that the demolition of the Partisan Memorial Cemetery and the failure to conduct an effective investigation is a political issue," states UABNOR Mostar.

They remind that next month thousands of anti-fascists from numerous countries will come to Mostar to mark the anniversary of the liberation of Mostar from fascism in World War II with the citizens of Mostar.

"On that occasion, they will also visit the Partisan Memorial Cemetery and confront the shame of both the city of Mostar and the entire country. Images of the desecrated Partisan Memorial Cemetery will travel the world and tell the world, for who knows what time, that structures that create an environment where anti-fascism and anti-fascist heritage are not welcome, rule here.

It seems to us that this is the goal, to present the country in the worst possible light, and thus show that it is impossible. The attitude towards this, as well as numerous other national monuments, is an attitude towards the state. By your inaction, gentlemen, you are accomplices in the destruction of the state. Therefore, your inaction is more dangerous than the terrorist act itself committed on June 14, 2022," conclude UABNOR Mostar.
