Details of Sejfović's capture: Weapons, phones, SIM cards found, transfer to Zenica requested

The Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office today announced details of the capture of fugitive Amel Sejfović from the Sarajevo KPZ and what preceded his discovery and return to custody.

After escaping on September 3rd and the report that Sejfović had escaped from the "Miljacka" Penitentiary, police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, immediately began searching for the escaped Sejfović. Shortly thereafter, arrests were made of persons suspected of having assisted Amel Sejfović in his escape.
 
- From the very beginning of the escape, there were indications that Amel Sejfović was in the vicinity of Visoko. After he was located by the Intelligence-Security Agency of BiH, the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Zenica-Doboj and Central Bosnia Cantons, the Federal Police Administration, SIPA, and the BiH Border Police joined the search for the escaped Sejfović, with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton leading the activities. It was determined that Amel Sejfović was hiding near telecommunication repeaters near Visoko.

Then followed an operation of detailed terrain search in the villages of Tušnnjići, Gorani, Stjena gora, Tušnjička korita, Zagorice, and Završje in the municipalities of Visoko and Kiseljak.

- Due to the fact that he used multiple SIM cards and mobile phones while hiding, as well as the terrain configuration, his precise location was difficult to determine. During the intensive search, food, clothing, an automatic rifle, mobile phones, and SIM cards were found at various locations - the Prosecutor's Office of KS announced.
 
Given that the area of Buci was operationally covered by members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton and the Intelligence-Security Agency of BiH, on Monday around 11:45 AM, Amel Sejfović, armed with a pistol, was spotted running across the street in the mentioned settlement.

- When he noticed police officers, he rolled down a cliff into the Fojnica riverbed and continued to flee. However, he fell into a police ambush near a mill, discarded his pistol and mobile phone, and was subsequently apprehended.
 
The Prosecutor's Office of KS reminds that the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, at the proposal of the Prosecutor's Office of KS, has so far ordered custody for six individuals, while a decision from the court is pending for a seventh.

- They are suspected of assisting Amel Sejfović in his escape. In this case, Amel Sejfović is suspected of the criminal offense of escape of a person deprived of liberty. The investigation is ongoing.

Incidentally, since the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, before which the proceedings in the "Raiffeisen Bank" case are being conducted, has not yet made a decision on the transfer of Amel Sejfović to KPZ Zenica, the Prosecutor's Office of KS has submitted such a proposal to the court today.
