Despić and Svrzo Houses Soon to Get a New Look

(Patria) - In the Despić House, a branch of the Public Institution Museum of Sarajevo and a national monument of BiH, restoration works on the exterior carpentry began last week.

The works are being carried out according to the project of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural and Historical and Natural Heritage of KS, financed by the EU through the non-governmental organization Association for Intercultural Activities and Heritage Preservation in BiH (AIASN).

The start of the works was formalized by giving final instructions to the contractor, who, during a meeting at the Despić House, presented a wooden window model made after the original.

Funds for current maintenance were provided by the Institute and the Museum of Sarajevo from their own budgets, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton.

The completion of current maintenance works, which will include other minor repairs to the Despić House, is planned for the end of the year.

In addition to the renovation of the Despić House building, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of KS has dedicated itself to solving another long-standing problem, which is the renovation of the well-known cultural monument - the Svrzo House.

Due to damage to the building, resulting from wear and tear and weather conditions, such as the collapse of roof tiles from the "women's courtyard" roof, the Museum was closed to the public.

Thanks to funds that were not foreseen in the budget, and which the Ministry of Culture and Sports of KS provided for restoration, there is no doubt that the Svrzo House will shine again with its old splendor and open its doors to new visitors.
