Dozens of Migrants in Park near Sarajevo Railway Station

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The exact number of migrants currently in the Sarajevo Canton area is unknown, but they can be seen daily on the streets of Sarajevo, especially in parks, particularly the one near the Bus and Railway Station.

We recorded such a scene this morning, and in this park there were several dozen migrants in groups.

Police officers of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton regularly patrol areas where migrants gather, and according to the information available to them, they stay in this park for a short time. Their destination is Bihać, from where they want to continue towards Croatia and European Union countries.

Although the Bosnian authorities have provided space for the reception of migrants, such as the Refugee Center in Salakovac, and soon the Ušivak barracks in the Hadžići area, most migrants do not want to stay longer in Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Since the beginning of the year, more than 5,000 migrants have entered Bosnia and Herzegovina from Serbia and Montenegro. A meeting on the migrant crisis was held in Sarajevo yesterday, concluding that all countries on the Balkan route should cooperate, and that migrants should be accepted in a humane manner.

The largest number of migrants come from Pakistan and Iran, and slightly fewer from Syria, Afghanistan, Morocco and other countries of the Middle East.
