Der Standard: EUFOR ready to assist SIPA in arresting Dodik, commander Barbu can make the decision directly

(Patria) - The Viennese newspaper Der Standard published an article today titled "Fear of violence at Saturday's protests against Vučić's government in Belgrade".

Author Adelheid Wölfl describes in detail the events in Serbia ahead of the mass protests announced for tomorrow, and part of the article is dedicated to the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Wölfl writes that Saturday's demonstrations in Belgrade will likely have a direct impact on the situation in our country as well.

She reminds that an arrest warrant has been issued for Milorad Dodik, a separatist, ally of the regime in Serbia and friend of the Kremlin, who serves as President of the RS, because he did not appear before the state prosecutor's office.

"The judicial police have asked the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) to assist in arresting Dodik. However, SIPA will only do so if accompanied by soldiers from the EU military mission (EUFOR).

As Standard learns from diplomatic circles, EUFOR is ready to assist SIPA in arresting Dodik if requested.

The decision can be made directly by the EUFOR commander, Romanian General Florin-Marian Barbu. In an emergency, intervention by the NATO headquarters in Sarajevo is also possible," writes Wölfl, as reported by Patria.

She emphasizes that Dodik could also seek another "solution" and flee abroad. According to local media reports, the author adds, he plans to fly to Moscow on March 19.

"In any case, it can be assumed that Dodik has received the green light from the Kremlin for further escalation. So far, his calls for Serbs working in state police forces to join the RS police have been of no avail.

Since Dodik is also cornered, security experts assume that violence could be instigated in the RS with the help of radical groups or criminals in order for Dodik to portray himself as a victim," writes Adelheid Wölfl for Der Standard.
