Denis Bećirović: I will stop the parallel and subservient foreign policy of Bosnia and Herzegovina

(Patria) - Denis Bećirović, candidate for member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated that the practice of factional action in the field of foreign affairs must change.

- In the mandate of the current Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we have heard enough about representing the interests of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The accelerated path to the European Union and NATO was pompously announced. From the alleged determination in the strategic improvement of our diplomacy and the announced steps in strengthening bilateral relations with significant world partners, we got media praise for members of the Presidency when they grabbed the sleeve of some world leader or their assistant at mass gatherings to take a photo with them. It is superfluous to even talk about the inglorious attempts of official attendance at certain inaugurations - stated Bećirović.

He states that the reach of Bosnia and Herzegovina's diplomacy today is modest, and Bosnia and Herzegovina is stuck at the bottom in terms of diplomatic effectiveness in Europe.

- This is the result of the parallel policies of Čović, Ivanić and Izetbegović. The division of state diplomacy into three autonomous, private, party interest zones has resulted in the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina not having its own diplomacy. The members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina have invested the most effort on the international level in strengthening subservient relations - said Bećirović.

- While the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina wandered through conferences and round tables, Croatian diplomacy was engaged for Čović's appetites for the reorganization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Izetbegović's love for Erdogan showed to what limits the privatization of the foreign policy of our country can go. In short, the consequence is that the trio at the head of the state in Washington, London, Berlin, Moscow and elsewhere where world politics is forged appears as admiring observers, not as actors of agreements and partners, and in Brussels contacts are reduced to communicating with various support staff. This state of affairs is unacceptable. Such a disastrous policy and practice must be stopped, because there is no more important goal than representing and implementing a common foreign policy, not particular and nationalist interests. As a future member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I will ensure that our country takes its deserved place on the international diplomatic scene and that we reach membership in NATO and the EU much faster - concluded Bećirović.
