Demonstrators have been breaking the law and blocking the city for days!

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton has repeatedly requested in writing an explanation from the relevant minister, Nermin Pećanac, regarding the determination of a location for holding demonstrations, as those being held are a violation of the law, the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP) has learned.

Commissioner Vahid Ćosić did this, considering that for almost two weeks the very center of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina has remained completely blocked, as demonstrators, contrary to the law, obstruct traffic on the main roads for several hours at a time. Ćosić briefly confirmed this information, announcing that he will have more details tomorrow.

The gatherings, or alleged civil demonstrations, have been causing increasing indignation among the citizens of Sarajevo, as well as economic entities, in recent days, as they cause multi-hour traffic collapses.

The Director of the Federal Police Administration, Dragan Lukač, told NAP that this is undeniably a violation of the law and a disturbance of public order and peace. When asked if these are peaceful demonstrations if they prevent the normal movement of vehicles and city traffic, Lukač said:

- That is a well-posed question, it is difficult to answer. Public order and peace are being disturbed, and these gatherings have not been reported. That is the jurisdiction of the MUP of KS, and as far as I know, they are trying to appeal to the conscience of these people that it is not good to block, but what can be done. There is a collapse every day in Sarajevo – Lukač points out.
