Demobilised Fighters in Front of the FBiH Parliament: We Stay Here Until Demands Are Met

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – About a hundred demobilised members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Croatian Defence Council gathered in front of the Federal Parliament building, and traffic has been blocked. Police forces are securing the building of the FBiH Parliament, and a protective fence has been set up. As the fighters announced, one group will remain in front of the Parliament building, demanding that their demands be met. They have set a deadline until tomorrow for scheduling a session of the FBiH Parliament. 

The fighters demanded from the FBiH Parliament to schedule an emergency session of both Houses by September 5, with only one item on the agenda: Harmonisation of amendments to the Law on Demobilised Fighters and Members of Their Families.

Previously, both houses adopted the law, but in different texts.

Demobilised fighters say their problem must be resolved as soon as possible, or otherwise they will not allow the elections to be held. They stressed that they will remain in front of the FBiH Parliament building until their demands are met.

The fighters told parliamentarians that they are there because of them, and that the Veterans' Law must be adopted. During the day, buses with former fighters from other parts of the FBiH are expected to arrive.
