Demobilized soldiers have again started a hunger strike

Demobilized soldiers who have been protesting in front of the building of the Government of the Federation of BiH in Sarajevo for more than two months have again started a hunger strike, reports the Patria News Agency.

16 of them decided to start a hunger strike at seven o'clock, in order to try to achieve their rights in this way.

The soldiers started a hunger strike three days ago, but after four of them felt unwell, they stopped the strike on the recommendation of doctors. They then stated that if their demands were not met, they would continue the strike on Thursday, and since nothing has changed in their favor, they decided to start a hunger strike again today.

Among the soldiers who started the strike are two women.

The Federal Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Salko Bukvarević, called on the soldiers on Monday to appoint their representatives for negotiations with the Government, but the soldiers refuse, because they believe that all previous representatives have made agreements with the Government and left for home satisfied, while they are still waiting in front of the Government building.

We remind you that the soldiers are demanding, among other things, the adoption and public disclosure of a unified registry of Army of BiH soldiers, a veterans' allowance of at least 326 KM, the cessation of funding for all veterans' associations, and free medical treatment. 

The Government does not want to discuss this topic, claiming that additional expenses for this category would lead the Federation to bankruptcy. However, no one from the Government of FBiH has yet explained why the registry is not being more decisively published and how it has been operating without it until now.
