Demobilized soldiers go on hunger strike in front of the FBiH Government building

Demobilized soldiers, who have been seeking their rights in front of the FBiH Government building for two months, have decided to go on a hunger strike, reports Patria news agency.

The soldiers are not giving up on their demands and are telling the Government that they will not agree to individual fulfillment of conditions.

The Government has not fulfilled the demands of the former soldiers, so they have decided to seek their rights in this way.

Representatives of the demobilized soldiers have stated that the decision to go on a hunger strike was made unanimously, as it is the only way to send a message to the Government that they still exist and that their problems have not been resolved.

The soldiers say they are aware of the risks they are taking, but that they will persevere in their fight for their acquired rights.

- It is difficult to decide on a hunger strike. We are all worried, as are our family members, but we simply have no other way. We endured worse during the war, so we will endure this too - the soldiers said.

A large number of soldiers in front of the Government building are already in poor health, so there is a justified fear that the hunger strike could cause more serious problems.

However, the soldiers say that nothing can stop them in their fight for their rights.

We remind you that the soldiers are demanding, among other things, the adoption and public announcement of a unified register of Army of BiH soldiers, a veteran's allowance of at least 326 KM, the cessation of funding for all veteran associations, and free medical treatment. 

The Government is unwilling to discuss this issue, claiming that additional expenses for this category would lead the Federation to bankruptcy. However, no one from the FBiH Government has yet explained why a more decisive move is not being made with the publication of the register and how they have been operating without it until now.
