Ljubomir Kuravica's Rebuttal to the Article Published on Patria

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Ljubomir Kuravica, an employee of the BiH Ministry of Defense, reacted to the article “Trial for war crimes to begin for Mektić's assistant, Ministry claims ignorance of the indictment” published on the website of the Patria news agency, rejecting the claims in that article that are related to his name.

Kuravica's rebuttal states, among other things:

“I kindly ask you to rebut the aforementioned slander and falsehoods in the same format and manner as you published them, and to inform me in writing, certified by the signature and seal of the responsible person, as soon as possible, but no later than 8 (eight) days from the date of receipt of this request...

Therefore, the published slander and falsehoods are catastrophically damaging to me personally, my reputation and image, and especially to my candidacy for judge, for which I applied according to the mentioned VSTS BiH competition, which is currently ongoing! In accordance with the Constitution and the specific conditions of the competition, the candidate must be a distinguished lawyer of the highest moral qualities, which corresponds to my personality as I have no blemishes in my career.

With your untrue publications, you have reduced me to the worst possible reputation and image, stating that I violated the Law on Civil Service, that a report has been filed against me, that I was dismissed from the Border Police because a fake diploma was allegedly found, that I am on some lists of suspects for the crime of genocide in Srebrenica, and that my wartime past should be investigated, etc.

Dear Sirs, with these untrue publications, you have jeopardized the existence, family peace, and personal safety of my family and myself, and reduced my chances of being selected as a judge to zero!

As a person with many years of experience in the security agencies in BiH and a distinguished lawyer, I support the freedom of journalistic investigation and independent reporting to the public, but I am against the dissemination of falsehoods and slander…”
