Delić: Significant projects and intensive cooperation agreed with the General Directorate of Forestry of Turkey

(Patria) - Minister of Economy of Sarajevo Canton Adnan Delić spoke today in Ankara with Bekir Karacabey, General Director of the General Directorate of Forestry of Turkey.

At the meeting, which was agreed upon in August this year, during the visit of a delegation from the General Directorate of Forestry of Turkey to the Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, Delić and Karacabey discussed the harmonization of a memorandum of understanding, which will be signed by the Ministry and the General Directorate.

“I am very satisfied with today's meeting and the agreements we have reached. We exchanged ideas and proposals, and agreed that our cooperation should move towards education, organizing seminars and expert workshops, exchanging scientific and technical information, connecting our institutions in the field of forestry and rural development, and other important segments in the field of forestry,” Minister Delić stated after the meeting.

The memorandum of understanding, which will be signed by these two institutions, concerns cooperation in the field of forest protection and improvement of forest management, cooperation on improving rural development, exchange of experiences in forest management, as well as experiences in managing and restructuring land parcels.

This particularly relates to the area of forming state land for public needs, land consolidation regarding rural development, activating underutilized and unattractive state-owned land, and cooperation related to the importance of forests in the global fight against climate change.

In this regard, cooperation on the exchange of students and pupils within the framework of afforestation days in Turkey and Sarajevo Canton was also agreed upon. This will be an exceptional opportunity for students and pupils from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for students and pupils from Turkey, to create connections with colleagues and exchange knowledge and experiences in the field of forestry already during their education.

In addition to the above, Minister Delić also said that today the implementation of two significant projects for Sarajevo Canton was agreed upon.

“We also discussed forest health protection, and agreed on cooperation in the implementation of two valuable projects concerning the monitoring of forest health status and the establishment of a diagnostic and forecasting service for the field of forestry in the area of Sarajevo Canton. The establishment of this service is of exceptional importance, not only for Sarajevo Canton but also for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it will be the first of its kind in the Canton, as well as in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” explained Minister Delić.

He also emphasized that today's agreement represents an intensive strengthening of ties between Sarajevo Canton and the friendly Republic of Turkey, not only in the field of forestry but also in overall relations.
