DELEGATE REBUS FOR DŽINDIĆ: Who, How, and Why is Causing the Gas Crisis?

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH began its regular session in Sarajevo today, and delegates are currently asking questions and submitting initiatives. 

Federal Minister of Energy, Mining, and Industry of FBiH, Nermin Džindić, received the most questions at today's session, concerning gas supply and the termination of contracts with Hungarian suppliers. 

"We are witnessing continuous gas crises in the past year, reflected through constant announcements of supply cessation and consequently, heating cessation," said SDP BiH delegate Segmedina Srna Bajramović. 

"Due to a route change, the management of the public company BH Gas filed a criminal complaint last year against those responsible at Energoinvest, stating that Energoinvest unilaterally terminated the contract with the Hungarian supplier which was valid until 2023. Experts in this field assess that the change of the gas pipeline is the cause of the supply crisis," Srna Bajramović stated. 

She requested the relevant minister, Džindić, to provide her with an analysis of the justification based on which the decision to change the gas pipeline was made, and posed a series of questions - is anything being done at this moment to adopt a state law on gas and electricity, what stage is the South Interconnection project realization at, and who is responsible for the lack of gas for the Canton of Sarajevo?

Delegate Damir Marjanović posed many more questions to Džindić and Federal Prime Minister Fadil Novalić on a similar topic. 

"Why did Energoinvest agree to a fixed contract for the supply of 1.2 million cubic meters per day for all consumers, when it knew that on some winter days with low temperatures, this quantity would not be sufficient? Why did the Government and Energoinvest agree to switch to TurkStream, which has a significantly lower gas flow and makes us more dependent on the eastern neighbor than the pipeline through Hungary? Is there an official document by which Gazprom ordered this as the only supply route to BiH?" Marjanović asked Džindić and Novalić. 

Furthermore, Marjanović asks if, by switching to TurkStream, we have closed the possibility of purchasing gas from any other direction or any other supplier except Gazprom?

"What are the main differences between the previously signed contract signed by BH Gas and the one signed by Energoinvest? What is the current financial status of BH Gas and Energoinvest accounts? Did the previous contract allow for the emergency purchase of gas at a standard, not an emergency, price? At what price did Serbia recently lend us emergency gas quantities, and at what price did Energoinvest sell them to Sarajevogas?" are some of the questions from the arsenal posed to Minister Džindić and Prime Minister Novalić. 

Marjanović also asked why only Sarajevogas is offered additional quantities at temporary prices, while entities like Arcelor Mittal are offered at standard prices. 
"By switching to TurkStream, have you violated previous contracts, such as the one with the Hungarian company, and is it true that an arbitration proceeding has been initiated because of this?" Marjanović asked, stating that he had submitted some additional technical questions in writing. 

We remind you that the citizens of Sarajevo Canton feared "cold" radiators in recent days, following a new crisis with the supply of gas, the primary energy source used by KJKP "Toplane". In the meantime, we witnessed a clash of statements from the companies involved in the supply process.
